Memorandum of Cooperation between Kosovo Local Government Institute, Prishtina, Kosovo and Al-Hayat Center for Civil Society Development, Amman, Jordan

Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) and Al-Hayat Center for Civil Society Development (Al-Hayat Center) have come together in efforts to promote principles of local democracy, decentralization, vocational education and capacity building programs in Middle East and Western Balkans. Partner organizations will work together towards more prosperous democratically, politically and economically more viable societies.

Under this Memorandum of Cooperation the two organizations will partner and support each other in the following areas:

•    KLGI will support Al-Hayat Center in developing curricula, modules, criteria and implementation of Local Governance Academy (LGA). LGA is a tailored made academic program aiming to strengthen local governance through provision of education services, exchange of knowhow and experiences targeting central and local government officials;

•    Promotion of local democracy, advocacy and civic participation projects in Middle East and in international arena;

•    Common issues and differences with regard to democracy and state building process in developing and transition contexts.

The Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) is a think-tank dedicated to strengthen decentralized system of governance, local governance research, vocational education, capacity building and training programs. The KLGI is a non-profit organization registered in Prishtina, Republic of Kosovo in April 2008. The KLGI has international experience working in Middle East and Southern Eastern Europe.

Al Hayat Center for Civil Society Development was established by a group of young Jordanian activists in 2006. The organization has a deep commitment toward regional development and values of global citizenship. Al-Hayat Center has a robust outreach on both regional and international levels, where Al-Hayat has significant contributions in building the capacities of CSOs in elections monitoirng, parliament monitoring, local governance, enhancing political development, advocating for human rights and supporting democratic transitions in several Arab countries
