Media and Civil Society - articulators for public concerns
Within the program "An effort towards a sustainable and functional local government", Kosovo Local Government Institute is completing two sessions on "Strengthening the Role of Civil Society and Media at the Local Level" in the KLGI Institute premises.
Media and civil society are the main focus of the training sessions, considering that the role of media reporting and as well as civil society participation are seen as an essential prerequisite of good governance. Therefore, the strengthening of local media and mutual communication with municipalities should be seen as a prerequisite for good governance.
The two-day training includes the region of Prishtina, Gjilan and Mitrovica, and addresses topics which essentially call for intervention and improvement of the situation in the field of local governance area.
The training also aims to present the work and results of the local government and the power of the internet, YouTube channels, portals and social networks that often can be seen as unexploited potential of municipalities and offices for information.
This has to do with the role that the citizens, the media and civil society should play in order to keep local actors accountable for their actions and observe the fulfillment of the promises and vision that has been reflected.
