Kosovo Local Government Institute (KLGI) organized the workshop on “Financing of Social Services at the Local Level”. The participants were directors of the Directorates for Social Welfare at the local level; officials of line ministries; leaders of the Association of Centers for Social Work and representatives of local and international organizations dealing with this field.
During the workshop, the findings on the financing of social services at the local level from the decentralization process until the current year were presented. KLGI Institute through the analysis “Social Services in Municipalities – Funding Trends 2010 – 2023” has analyzed the key periods of financing social services at the local level, drawing an analysis with detailed data.
Despite the increase in needs, it is still necessary to complete managerial and professional capacities in the provision of social services. Municipalities are mandated to take responsibility for the provision of social assistance and social services (with the exception of the payment of pensions). Despite the provision of social services, the municipalities, beyond this, can also do other sectoral actions for the support and financing of social services.
This activity was carried out in the framework of the program “Dialogue for European Municipalities (DEM)”, supported by the Norwegian Embassy in Prishtina
