As part of the “Local Governance Academy – LGA” program, participants of the 10th generation had the opportunity to discuss the topic “The Role of Public Relations in Local Governance”.
In separate sessions, the discussion focused on effective communication among local actors, including relationships with the public and the media.
Transparency, collaboration, open dialogue, and trust are among the key elements of effective communication with the public. First and foremost, the exchange of information reduces bureaucracy for citizens, modernizes work processes, and enriches the drafting, implementation, and evaluation of policies.
Providing information to citizens about priorities, programs, and activities contribute to the empowerment of local policies, thus increasing the chances that citizens and interest groups see the public authority as legitimate. It also helps voters and administration make informed decisions.
This activity was carried out in the framework of the program “Dialogue for European Municipalities (DEM)”, supported by the Norwegian Embassy in Prishtina.
